Abcor Panels Image
Bweeng National School in Co.Cork is currently waiting on a new classroom to be constructed for them, in the meantime they still require the additional space for students. The only space available to them within the school was their GP Hall.

The problem with the hall was the reverberation time or (Echo ) which was reaching 3.9 seconds.
A teacher cannot teach properly in a space like this, as speech intellegibility is very poor.

This space mesaued 12 m x 8 m x 7 m at the highest point and 3.6  m at the lowest point.
The ceiling is a plasterboard painted finish on purlin cavity, the walls are painted block and the floor is sports floor on battens.

The architects involved in the conversion O'Keeffe O'Connell based in Mallow have an excellent awareness of the requirements for acoustics in schools.

Our brief as a retro-fit, was to design & install a cost effective panel that met all fire and acoustic criteria, reducing the Tmf to no less than 0.8 seconds.
The post installation test showed we achived a 0.6 Tmf resulting in a fantastic space to teach and learn.

We achieved this with 48m2 of abCOR-Original acoustic panels on the wall and 60m2 of abCOR-Original on the ceiling.
Working with the existing structure, we used 1200 x 1200 x 50mm panels and 600 x 1200 x 50mm panels in Grey.
